Is this year’s vacation a staycation? Here are some SMART TIPS on how to enjoy the Tropics right in your own home.
Start with some Sea Foam Blue: Paint an accent wall, add an area rug, toss some pillows or hang it in a seascape. Infusing a bit of this sea faring color into your home is sure to keep you cool and calm during the hottest days.
Make a bold color statement: Use Papaya/Hibiscus orange. A little splash goes a long way. Use it in solids or patterns. Try a footstool, chair cushions, or side table. Table linens, throws, curtain panels—anything fabric will make your room read tropical.
Add some palm trees: Invest in a realistic silk tree or two and “plant” them throughout your house. Use a palm to divide a room, fill a bare corner, accent tall windows, create an inner entry or add drama to an outdoor entry.
Reinvent boring walls: Stencil it – silhouette a palm tree, just a few fronds or a flamingo. Wallpaper it- splurge on some grasscloth, real or faux. Get wild – introduce some colorful artwork of tropical bird prints or sea worthy ocean friends.
Texturize your space: Swap wood chairs, for wicker or rattan. Ditto with occasional tables—try a wicker trunk or chest. Layer on some sisal or jute area rugs. Find creative uses for baskets.
